This dog has been in shelter for 3 years. No one wants her!

The story centers around Kylie, a dog who has spent three years in a shelter due to unfortunate circumstances. Initially, Kylie faced a tough situation where she had a difficult pregnancy requiring a C-section, which her original family could not afford. Consequently, they surrendered her to the shelter to receive necessary medical care. Although Kylie’s puppies were all healthy and subsequently adopted, Kylie herself has not been as fortunate in finding a new home.

Throughout her time at the shelter, Kylie has been friendly and enthusiastic, always greeting visitors with a toy in her mouth. Despite her friendly demeanor, she has struggled to find a permanent home. This difficulty is partly because she does not get along well with other animals, a trait that complicates finding her a suitable home since many potential adopters already have other pets.

Kylie was initially at a shelter in Spokane and, after a year without adoption success, she was transferred to the Benton and Franklin Human Society in Kenwick. A volunteer, who has known Kylie for two years, shares insights into her life at the shelter. This volunteer, who once aspired to be a veterinarian, spends quality time with Kylie, sitting with her in her kennel, and ensuring she receives affection and toys. The volunteer notes Kylie’s specific needs, such as sensitive tummy treats due to her medical history and her mixed breed characteristics, which include traits of a Shepherd and possibly a Boxer.

Kylie’s story is also marked by the broader issues facing the shelter, such as high pet population and limited resources which mean dogs like Kylie often spend long hours in kennels. The volunteer expresses a strong desire for Kylie to find a loving home that matches her needs and acknowledges the harsh reality that other shelters with fewer resources might have euthanized her by now.
