Chained dog finds new life and adventures after adoption.

Harvey was a family dog who suffered from severe separation anxiety. Instead of addressing this issue sensitively, his owners decided to chain him outside. He spent a harrowing year in these conditions, confined and isolated in the backyard. Despite his rough start, Harvey’s fate took a turn when he was rescued and taken to a pound. It was here in 2016 that he caught the eye of Olivia’s partner, standing out by not barking and leaning affectionately against him during a visit to the kennel.

New Beginnings

Once adopted, Harvey’s life transformed dramatically. Olivia and her partner, living in Oregon, introduced Harvey to a world of adventures. He thrived in the outdoors, enjoying activities like skiing and exploring the local river. His attachment to his new family was profound, often exhibiting distress when separated from them but gradually learning that they would always return. On a more personal note, Olivia first met Harvey during a date with her partner, immediately recognizing the bond they shared and the significant role Harvey would play in their lives.

Healing and Happiness

Over the years, Harvey worked through his anxiety with the support of his new family. He grew increasingly playful and bonded with a younger dog in the household. His keen sensitivity to human emotions provided comfort during tough times, distinguishing between minor upsets and genuine distress. Recognized as a mix of several breeds but resembling a pit bull boxer mix, Harvey was given a second chance at life filled with love, care, and endless adventures, a stark contrast to his earlier years of neglect.
