Dogs are amazing creatures. They love us, make us laugh, and are always there to cheer us up when we’re sad. This story is about a very special dog named Polo.
Polo was once a dog without a home. He lived on the streets, where life was very hard. But then something wonderful happened. A kind-hearted girl named Molly found him while she was on a trip. Polo was lying by the road, looking very sick and sad. Molly knew she had to help him.
She took Polo to a doctor for animals and called a vet. Polo was very sick, but the vet helped him get better. While Polo was getting better, Molly had a big argument with her dad, Wayne. Wayne didn’t want Polo to come and live with them. But Molly didn’t listen. She knew Polo needed them.
When Polo was well again, Molly brought him to her house in Massachusetts. Polo quickly became part of the family. He became best friends with Grandma Barbara and another dog named Georgia. Everyone loved Polo, except for one person – Wayne, Molly’s dad.
Wayne didn’t pay much attention to Polo. But Polo didn’t give up. He wanted to make Wayne like him too. Polo tried many things to get Wayne’s attention. He ran around a lot and played with his dog friends. But Wayne still didn’t notice him much.
Then Polo tried something new. Polo was very gentle and loving with children. Wayne saw this and started to see Polo in a new way.
“I decided to get a little closer to Polo, and wow, Polo got closer to me too,” Wayne told a friend.
This was the start of a beautiful friendship.
Wayne and Polo became the best of friends. They did everything together. Polo was always happiest when Wayne was around. Wayne even started buying special clothes for Polo, making him look very fancy. Everyone who saw them could see how much they loved each other.
Molly was so happy. “When Polo joined our family, it felt like we won a big prize,” she said.
