Shelter Dog Is So Happy Someone Finally Loves Him

Porter, a striking dog with husky eyes and a pitbull-shaped head, captured hearts the moment he was introduced. Analise shares his journey, beginning in the summer of 2022 when she and her boyfriend were searching for a dog. Their visit to a shelter in Long Beach led them to Porter, who had been roaming free before being taken in. Having spent about a month in the shelter, Porter was eager for companionship, demonstrating his affection by leaning against Analise and her boyfriend during their first meeting.

The connection was instantaneous. Despite initial hesitations, Porter quickly settled into his new home, showing signs of previous indoor living and a strong desire for closeness. His penchant for following his owners around earned him the nickname “shadow,” and his expressive face often made them laugh.

Curious about his mixed appearance, Analise conducted a DNA test, revealing Porter to be 50% Husky, with mixes of German Shepherd, Pitbull, and a touch of Border Collie. Despite his large size, weighing about 90 pounds, and his somewhat intimidating look, Porter’s gentle demeanor endeared him to everyone he met.

Porter’s days are filled with joy and activity, from morning zoomies to eagerly waiting for his favorite person—Analise’s boyfriend—to come home. His fear of being left alone means he rarely spends time without his family, and thankfully, Analise works from home, allowing her to spend ample time with her devoted companion.

Through two years together, Porter has not only brought laughter and smiles but has also become an integral part of his family, proving how a once-neglected shelter dog can turn into a treasured family member.
