The Moment When a Dog Gets Adopted: The Smile on the Dog That Was Last to Get Adopted

Toad’s story is one of resilience and companionship, shared by Carly on YouTube. It all began when Toad’s pregnant mom found herself in a shelter. Carly’s mom, being involved in rescue work, took in Toad’s mom and ended up fostering her. Soon enough, she gave birth to a litter of 10 puppies, among which Toad was the last to be adopted. Carly couldn’t resist Toad’s charms and decided to give him a forever home.

During Carly’s time in school, Toad became her faithful companion, accompanying her everywhere from campus to exploring around town. Carly was so dedicated to Toad that she even abandoned her dorm to get an apartment off-campus just so Toad could have a comfortable space to live in.

Toad grew into a gentle giant, weighing 80 pounds but still thinking he’s a lap dog. He’s playful and happy, especially when he gets to destroy his toys. However, he’s easily frightened by noises and certain decorations, like inflatable holiday decorations or spinning lawn ornaments.

Despite his size, Toad can be quite protective of Carly, needing proper introductions before being comfortable around new people. He’s great with familiar faces, like Carly’s brother and his dog friends, with whom he has adorable playdates.

One of Toad’s closest companions is Link, a senior Chihuahua mix Carly adopted from the shelter. Although Toad tries to engage Link in play, Link prefers his quiet, senior lifestyle. Toad’s attachment to Carly is evident, as he used to experience separation anxiety when they moved but now finds solace in her presence.

To Carly, Toad is more than just a pet; he’s her beloved companion and her first dog that’s truly her own. She cherishes their bond and is grateful to have him in her life.
