Tiny chihuahua’s high five attempts are hilarious

Kelly, a former volunteer at Alachua Animal Refuge in Florida, reminisces about the first time she met Gizzy during a major rescue operation involving 97 dogs. Despite not being a fan of small dogs, Kelly was immediately taken by Gizzy’s charm and eventually adopted her. After two years, Kelly began traveling full-time with Gizzy in a travel trailer, exploring mostly the Western United States. Gizzy, now 11 years old, continues to exude youthful energy, displaying a playful, puppy-like demeanor despite her age.

Gizzy has formed a special bond with Kelly, showing signs of anxiety and discomfort when strangers attempt to touch her, though she is generally loved by those who meet her. Kelly has learned to manage these interactions to keep Gizzy comfortable. Together, they enjoy a nomadic lifestyle, with Gizzy adapting happily to changing surroundings.

One of Gizzy’s favorite activities is the “color game,” where Kelly asks her to guess the color of the day, leading to excited barks when Gizzy gets it right. Unfortunately, Gizzy began showing signs of seizure-like activity, requiring medication to manage her condition. This has been a challenging time for Kelly, as Gizzy’s health directly impacts her emotional well-being.

Despite her small size, at merely two and a half pounds, Gizzy has had an enormous impact on Kelly’s life, more than many other people or experiences. Her spirited attempts at high fives, her expressive nature, and their shared adventures highlight their profound connection.
